Our History
Coeur d’Alene Dock LLC was founded from necessity, resourcefulness, and a lifelong commitment to solving problems with precision and care.
When severe winter storms destroyed the family dock on Lake Coeur d’Alene, local companies quoted six-month delays, Sean Cherry—founder and owner—rebuilt it himself.
Raised in Rhode Island, Sean worked with his father, a licensed general contractor, from an early age. After graduating from the University of Idaho, he served as a United States Marine Corps officer and later built a successful career in medical-device sales.
Post-military, Sean applied his construction and general contracting experience to maintain and improve docks for his family and lake neighbors. This work gave him expert knowledge of North Idaho’s seasonal challenges and the Inland Northwest’s preferred dock-construction methods.
When severe storms damaged the family's docks, he purchased and outfitted a dedicated pontoon work boat. He completed a fully rebuilt, like-new dock in a week.
News spread quickly among neighbors. Requests revealed strong demand for a responsive, mobile dock-repair solution. Coeur d’Alene Dock was established to meet that need.
Today, Sean and his team provide professional dock services throughout North Idaho, from minor repairs and maintenance to structural reinforcement, re-floating, and full reconstruction.
